Kitchen respray prices depend on the number of doors and drawers, fixed panels, islands, cornice, plinths, existing coating, substrate condition, repairs and the preparation system required.

As a general indication, smaller professional kitchen resprays can begin around £1,500, while larger kitchens, timber kitchens and projects requiring extensive repairs or isolating primers can cost considerably more.

We prefer to price the kitchen in front of us rather than advertise an unrealistically cheap headline figure and add everything afterwards. Clear photographs, your postcode and an approximate door and drawer count are normally enough to start.

Usually, yes — particularly where the existing cabinets and layout are structurally sound. A respray retains the expensive part of the kitchen you already own and changes the visible finish.

Replacement makes more sense when cabinets are badly damaged, the layout no longer works or extensive structural alterations are required. We would rather tell somebody that than spray a kitchen that should genuinely be replaced.

No. The finished colour may look similar on day one while the coating systems underneath are completely different.

Preparation time, substrate assessment, primer selection, number of coats, film build, drying conditions and curing all affect long-term performance. Cutting those stages is one of the easiest ways to make a kitchen spraying quotation cheaper.

A cheap finish that later peels or chips can become considerably more expensive when somebody has to remove the failing coating before doing the job again.

Longevity depends heavily on what happened before the topcoat was applied. Excellent paint cannot compensate for grease, silicone, loose vinyl, unsuitable primer or a poorly prepared surface.

Controlled heat helps the coating process and improves early handling characteristics so workshop-finished components can be processed in a controlled environment before being inspected, protected and returned for refitting.

Baking does not mean the coating instantly reaches every aspect of its ultimate chemical resistance. Customers are still given aftercare instructions while the coating completes its cure.

Although the kitchen can be carefully used after completion, SprayMasters recommends allowing approximately 21 days for the coating system to reach full cure.

During this period avoid harsh cleaners, aggressive scrubbing, oils left sitting on the surface and unnecessary impacts. Dry-to-touch and fully cured are not the same thing.

In our experience, coating failure is very often rooted in preparation or specification rather than simply the final colour coat.

Common problems include poor degreasing, silicone contamination, insufficient mechanical preparation, coating over unstable vinyl, using the wrong primer, failing to isolate timber staining, coating over an already failing finish or allowing insufficient cure between stages.

That is why SprayMasters treats the existing substrate as seriously as the finish the customer eventually sees.

Yes. Oak kitchens can look exceptional after professional refinishing, but timber needs to be treated as timber rather than approached like a smooth synthetic cabinet door.

Natural grain normally remains visible unless a separate grain-filling service is specified. Knots, tanning and timber staining may also require an isolating or blocking primer system before further primers and topcoats.

Not as part of a standard respray. Standard preparation preserves some evidence of the natural grain beneath the new colour.

Customers wanting a much smoother painted appearance can ask about our additional grain-filling process. It involves significantly more preparation and is priced separately because it is a very different amount of work.

Yes, providing the MDF is structurally sound. MDF is commonly used in kitchens and can produce an excellent spray finish with the correct preparation and primer.

Water-damaged, swollen or severely degraded MDF is different. Spraying cannot reverse structural damage, and replacement of individual components may be the better solution.

It depends on the condition of the vinyl. Sound vinyl and loose or shrinking vinyl are not the same substrate.

If the wrap is failing, bubbling or lifting, simply coating over it does not repair the underlying problem. In suitable cases the vinyl can be removed, the underlying substrate prepared and a new coating system built from there.

We assess this before quoting because we will not pretend an unstable surface becomes stable merely because it has been sprayed.

Potentially, but the existing finish first has to be assessed. A new coating is only as secure as the coating beneath it.

If the previous coating has poor adhesion, is peeling or is chemically incompatible with the proposed system, additional removal or remedial preparation may be required before we can responsibly apply another finish.

The choice is enormous. SprayMasters can work with recognised colour references including RAL and BS shades and can produce colours inspired by popular interior ranges such as Farrow & Ball and Little Greene.

You are not restricted to grey, white or whatever happens to be fashionable this month. The aim is to choose a colour that works with your flooring, worktops, lighting and the architecture of the room.

Yes. Sample doors can be produced for suitable projects so you can judge the colour and finish as a physical coated surface rather than relying entirely on a phone screen or printed chart.

Yes. Kitchen transformations are a sensible time to modernise handles because the doors are already removed and being prepared.

Where the new handles use a different fixing pattern, existing holes may need filling and new holes accurately positioned before finishing. Suitability depends on the door material and proposed handle layout.

Yes. Doors, drawer fronts and suitable removable components are dismantled and taken to our Derby workshop for controlled preparation and spray finishing.

Fixed carcass faces, end panels and other non-removable elements are carefully prepared and finished onsite so the completed kitchen reads as one consistent system.

Usually not. The service normally concentrates on the external visible surfaces rather than the complete interiors of every cabinet.

We will tell you what needs moving before work starts, especially around working areas where masking and onsite spraying is required.

Professional onsite spraying requires extensive protection. Adjacent surfaces, floors, worktops, appliances and areas outside the intended coating zone are masked before spraying begins.

Removing the doors and drawer fronts to the workshop also means a substantial part of the preparation and coating operation is performed away from your home.

Timescales depend on kitchen size, repairs, substrate and coating specification. Most customers are given a clear programme before commencement so dismantling, workshop processing, onsite spraying and refitting are coordinated.

We would rather allow sufficient time for preparation and coating stages than race a system purely to advertise the shortest turnaround on Google.

Yes. Suitable worktops can be incorporated into a larger kitchen transformation, including specialist decorative Spray Granite systems where appropriate.

This can completely change the appearance of the room without automatically ripping out structurally sound worktops.

Suitable tiled areas can also be refinished using systems selected for the surface and intended appearance. Options can include flat colours or decorative finishes depending on the project.

Yes. Some customers want only a professional colour change. Others combine cabinet spraying with handles, worktops, tiles, repairs, altered detailing and other surface upgrades to create a more complete kitchen transformation.
